Crafty Monday with Little Blue Button Stamps~

Little Blue Button Stamps

Hello sweet friends!
Welcome to another crafty Monday and a brand new week! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and hopefully you are ready to get a jump start on gathering fun ideas and inspiration for all your crafty projects!

I have a very sweet image to share with you today that I had so much fun coloring up! Check out this adorable little monkey with sign!

The Little Blue Button Stamps Shop released this sweet image during the February new release and I had so many ideas running through my head on what to make. I settled on making some bookmarks! Both my daughter and I love to read and so these were made particularly with my daughter in mind. :)

Here is what I created today!

I started by coloring up these adorable monkeys using copic markers. Added in a bit of detail with my white gel pen and glossy accents to their eyes.

The bookmarks were cut using GP white cardstock at 2 1/4 by 6 3/4. I used my swiss dots embossing folder to give them some texture. Then I used some Tim Holtz distress inks in Fired Brick, Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade, Old Paper & Brushed Corduroy to blend together and create the backgrounds. I used the Brushed Corduroy on the edges to get a darker, more defined edge. I then took my mister and spritzed water droplets onto the bookmarks and then dabbed it with a paper towel to add more interest. Hit it with my heat gun and once it was dry, I took some Picket Fence distress paint and flicked it to get white splatters all around the backgrounds in various spots. I heat set it again and now I was ready to decorate.

I had a "book print" sticker border that I wanted to use a long the bottom edge. I just placed it along the edge and cut off the extra. I did add some foam adhesive to the back of it to make it pop up for more dimension. The rest of the bookmarks were decorated simply using some old stickers that I had in my stash. I do not remember who made them sorry. But I took the swirls and flowers and made the same type of border going down the left side. Took some black alpha stickers from Creative Memories that I had in my stash to create my daughter's name on hers, and the word "Praise" on mine. In both words, I replaced the letter "i" with a wooden star that had a flower sticker attached to it, only on mine, I cut that flower in halve and then again in halve to create a butterfly. The wooden pieces give it some nice interest and beautiful dimension as well. Then I added one more flower and a little swirl to the bottom book print border to really tie it all in.

Now it was time to add the adorable monkeys! I just added a little bit of liquid adhesive to the bottom back of the monkeys and adhered them over the top of the bookmark. I love how this turned out! For my daughter's bookmark, I took a black fine tip pen and hand wrote, "This book belongs to" and then on mine, I wrote, Psalm John 4:19, "We love because He first loved us".  And to finish these off,  I had some wooden clothes pins laying around so I figured why not? I already had some wooden stars so why not bring in another piece of wood! I added the same stickers to the clothespins and just clipped them onto the sides. This way when we are reading, if we take notes or anything, we can clip them right there onto the page for easy reference. Well that is my project today friends! Hope you will give making bookmarks a try! And this sweet Monkey with Sign image is the perfect image for bookmarks!!
