Guest Designer Spotight, Amanda Corbet!

Hello!
I'm Amanda Corbet and I am so excited and honored to be sharing a project with you here on Jo's lovely blog. First I would like to share just a little bit about me. This is me and my husband Bill. This photo was just a few days ago when we went on the Ducks tour in Branson, Missouri.

When I'm not working at my day job as a designer at a local manufacturing company, cleaning/remodeling the house with my hubby, working on college coursework, making signs or jewelry to sell in my Etsy Shop, working out, or giving the dogs their deserved attention, I like to make things. A large variety of things...I just love to create things with my hands and put that special love into the gifts I give and the things I make for my home. So far I have done crochet (which is great TV watching crafting), cross stitch, jewelry making, card making, fused glass, stained glass, some painting, and a lot of paper crafting! I make a lot of cards and do a lot of stamping for three reasons:
  1. It's like instant gratification because a card doesn't take long to make
  2. I have a large family with lots of birthdays and such so the cards are always handy to have around
  3. I'm a Stampin' Up! demonstrator so I love to share all the fabulous products they have.
If you want to take a peek into where I play, create, make a mess, and sometimes actually have a finished project click here.

Okay, now onto the project. I just got in some of the new Stampin' Up! toys from the new catalog and I wanted to play around with them a bit. So today I have taken the five new in colors with two different stamp sets to create a set of 5 cards that would make a lovely gift.

~Supplies~

2016-2018 In Color cardstock 5-1/2" x 8-1/2"
2016-2018 In Color Stampin' Ink Pads
Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper
Whisper White cardstock
Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper
1/8" Silver Ribbon
Birthday Blooms stamp set
Suite Sayings stamp set
Whisper White Medium Envelopes
Banners Framelits
Big Shot
Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush

First off you want to place your cardstock onto your Stampin' Trimmer with the 8-1/2" edge against the top then score at 4-1/4". Fold on the score line and repeat with the remaining pieces of cardstock.

Use the smallest Banner Framelit in your Big Shot to cut five banners from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. Use the 3rd from smallest Banner Framelit to cut five banners from Whisper White cardstock. Use the 5th from smallest Banner Framelit to cut five banners from the chevron pattern Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).

For each card you are going to use the color of ink that coordinates with the cardstock. So for example this cardstock is Flirty Flamingo so use Flirty Flamingo ink. Stamp the large blossom from Birthday Blooms all over the card front. Then open the card and stamp the flower once inside the lower right hand corner of the card. Next stamp the blossom into the lower left hand corner of your envelope. Finally choose a greeting from Suite Sayings and stamp the greeting onto the Whisper White banner in the same ink.

If you want to step up your cards a bit and really make them sparkle and shine use the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to trace around the flower petals on all the flowers on the card front and the flowers inside the card. It's such a subtle shimmer, but really packs a punch when you see it in person.

Now you can use your desired adhesive to glue the DSP banner onto the card front, then the greeting banner, then the glitter banner all staggered as shown. Finally tie a length of 1/8" Silver Ribbon around the card front and into a knot.

Then just repeat to create a card in each of the fabulous new In Colors! Introducing..... (just imagine a drum roll here...) Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, and Sweet Sugarplum!

Here's another close up so you can see the sparkle and shine of that Wink of Stella. So in only 30 minutes I now five different cards for five different occasions.

I've wrapped them up with some retired ribbon to give as a gift, but these would also be wonderful to keep in your stash for when you need a last minute card for any occasion!

Thank you so much Jo for having me over today!
