Ask Jo! It's Talk Time Tuesday

Hello my sweet friends!
Welcome back to another Talk time Tuesday! How was your nice Holiday? I know some of you were off work in observance of the Holiday and I am hoping you were able to get some good craft time in! I also wanted to say Thank you to all of our men and women who have served or do serve to keep our country safe.

So today's question comes from Angie who wants to know,  "Just like you Jo, I have many company's inks and product. How do you decide which paper and inks to use when you go to create a project?"

  Hello Angie!
Well this is a great question!! Especially considering that I have inks from 7 different companies!!! In the past, I would use just one company's inks and stuck with it for quite some time. Since starting to craft again, I am now on a huge goal to use up my stash and nothing else. So now my mindset is to use something "new" or "un-used for quite some time" each time I decide to craft and make something. For instance, on Friday when I sat down to create, I used Stampin Up inks and then today while crafting, I used Hero Arts inks. I am going to rotate using different company's inks each time I create. Last week while creating a gift for my mom, I used an old kit from Close to my heart that I had in my stash now for nearly 5 years! It turned out lovely and the papers were gorgeous! So that is my way of thinking, just rotate the inks and papers each time you sit down to create. It has been working for me so far. :)  Thanks so much for writing in Angie! I hope to hear from you again soon.

Before I go, I wanted to let you know about this awesome online class that I am taking. Incentive Ink  by Marjie Kemper is a class teaching mixed media effects.
Inventive Ink
I was given this awesome class as an early birthday present from a friend and have just started in on lesson one. It is already intriguing and so much fun!!!  The class overall teaches techniques in blending, using stencils, using various mixed media mediums such as stains, distress inks, texture pastes, alcohol inks, layering and more! I am super excited to be able to take this class and in my own opinion, this is a class that is worth the money. Of course I didn't pay for it myself, but so far the content of what I am learning is definitely worth every penny of the class cost. So if you are looking for a really good class to take, consider this one! You can purchase this class HERE .

Well friends, that is it for today. Please write in with questions you want answered or topics you would like to see talked about during our Tuesdays together :)

Thanks for stopping by and until next time.... Enjoy life's blessings~

  1. I have inks from 7 different companies as well. My fav go to black ink use to be Memento Tuxedo Black but now I use Versafine Black Onyx. I select the ink based on color because I do not have some colors in the 7 different ink companies. The photographer in me especially likes the first mixed media creation with the film strip on it.

  2. Boy, that was a good question! I know that different inks, do or look different too. I am loving my distress inks and yes, I do stamp with them as well. I also like SU inks and CTMH inks even though I don't have many of either. I also love the Hero Arts Shadow Inks, but not with all my stamps. The black inks that I love are Memento Tuxedo Black and India Ink, love, love India Ink. I haven't tried the Verafine Black Onyx but plan on it. And I want to get the new Ranger inks that are so vivid as well as the Ombre inks. Yes, I do have a wish list!! Your class looks like fun Jo, I'm glad you are enjoying it! Hugs, Brenda
